How to download the latest iPhone updates:
Apple always makes the latest iPhone OS available through iTunes.
Perform the following steps to download the latest iPhone software:
- Plug your iPhone into your USB or FireWire connection. Once the
computer recognizes the iPhone is plugged in, iTunes will automatically be
launched (if it's not already open).
- You will see a 'DEVICES' section on the left of the iTunes screen with
your iPhone name in the list. If it's not in the list - wait until it
appears and then click on it.
- Now you should see a 'Check for Update' button in the middle of
the screen. Click the button and iTunes will let you know if you have
the most recent OS version. If you don't then iTunes will ask you if
you want to download the latest version (most of the time it's free of
charge - but Apple should display the price if there is a cost). If
you choose to update the OS, be prepared to wait a long time until the
download is finished.
